The Miracle Child is the story of Trudi Birger and the Dental Volunteers for Israel (DVI) Clinic. In this documentary produced in 1998 Trudi tells the harrowing story of how she and her mother survived the Holocaust, and the vow she made as a little girl that, should she survive, she would dedicate her life to helping children in need.
Trudi is the miracle child who shows us how one person can impact the lives of many. She established the DVI Clinic in 1980 because she saw that poor children were not able to get the dental care they needed.
Over 40-plus years the DVI Clinic has provided free dental care and oral health education to tens of thousands of underserved children and youth, and free dentures to hundreds of needy seniors and Holocaust survivors.
Thanks to Trudi and all who continue her mission, Jerusalem’s youth and seniors are healed and have hope for a better life every day.
