American Friends of DVI was proud to host a screening of the documentary film COMPLICIT in New York City on May 17th. It was an honor to have with us Eva Weiner, Sonja Geismar, Judith Steel and John Shilling, four of the surviving passengers of the SS St. Louis.
Our guests had the opportunity to speak with the film’s producer Robert Krakow and our special guests during a reception prior to the screening and to ask questions at a Q&A session.
The story of the SS St. Louis is part of the fabric of our culture and the surviving passengers are our witnesses to this part of the American story. Their participation in the commemoration of the 76th anniversary of the voyage of the SS St. Louis had an emotional impact on all those in attendance. We are truly grateful that they were willing to share their stories of tragedy and hope with us.
We thank you all for everything you did to help make this another successful event for AFDVI. It is through your support that we are able to help the DVI clinic continue their important work. Together we are lessening the suffering of Jerusalem’s children and youth by providing desperately needed dental care and oral hygiene education.
